[Industry News] GameStop Will Let You Trade-in a Game for Full Credit if Returned within 48 Hours

GameStop is launching a new promotion plan that allows customers to return a game for full store credit within 48 hrs of purchase. According to The Verge, this program is called "Guarantee to Love it," and will launch next week with the debut of Days Gone. The promotion window only applies in the first week of a game's arrival and GameStop will specify during various times which titles are eligible.
For instance, Days Gone officially lands on April 26th, and customers will only be eligible to claim a full credit fund if they purchase the game between April 25th-28th. If they don't "love it," they can trade the open item back to the store for the full price of $59.99. Tax is not refundable and the deal only applies to the standard/physical version of the game.

[Nintendo] Nintendo Shares Surge More Than 13% after Tie-Up with Tencent to Sell Switch Console in China

According to CNBC, Nintendo shares surged on Friday after Tencent won approval for selling the widely popular console Switch in China.
Regulators in Guangdong province have approved the Nintendo Switch and the game "New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe" to be released in China.

[Game News] PUBG and Fortnite are Now Banned in Iraq

The government of Iraq has voted to ban the popular battle royale game and Fortnite and Playerunknown's Battlegrounds because of their influence on the population.
According to Reuters, the ban was put into place "due to the negative effects caused by some electronic games on the health, culture, and security of Iraqi society, including societal and moral threats to children and youth."

[Ubisoft] Ubisoft donates $0.56m to restore Notre-Dame and gives away Assassin's Creed Unity for Free

Ubisoft, a mostly French video game company has joined the French people to help them restore Notre-Dame to its former glory.
According to a statement on its website, Ubisoft is donating 0.5 million euros to “help with the restoration and reconstruction of the Cathedral” following the tragedy.
Ubisoft is also making Assassin's Creed Unity, the Paris-set historical adventure that features Notre-Dame and many other historical buildings in Pari, free for a limited time on PC. Players need to have a Ubisoft Uplay launcher to download the game.
Assassin's Creed Unity will be free until 8 am (your local timezone) on April 25th, 2019.
