[Game News] Mobile Game Spending Hits Single-Day Record of $70M on Black Friday

User spending on mobile games in the U.S. hit an all-time single-day high of $69.7 million on Black Friday, analytics firm Sensor Tower reports.
Combined revenue across both Google Play and App Store was up 25 percent year-over-year, which itself was a record high for single-day spending at $55.8 million. The bump from 2018 to 2019 is also the largest year-over-year increase in spending on Black Friday since 2015-2016.

[Game News] Mobile-Gaming Billionaires Are Buying Rivals Instead of Selling Out

Playrix Holding Ltd., a mobile-game developer that made billionaires of its Russian founders, has bought into about a dozen studios to take on the likes of Activision Blizzard Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc.
Brothers Igor and Dmitry Bukhman said in an interview that by 2025 they want Playrix’s sales to catch up with those of the U.S. gaming giants. Over the past year they’ve spent more than $100 million on acquisitions and are planning to more than quadruple their portfolio of titles from about four that are available now.

Since it’s launch two weeks ago, Sword Art Online Alicization Rising Steel has been a fairly enjoyable game to play. Along with this, many YouTubers have started covering the game.
However, since the game has launched, many YouTubers have been getting copyright claimed because of the game. Recently, these claims have become full Copyright Strikes on YouTubers. A strike on Youtube holds a much greater effect than a simple claim. If a channel receives a Strike, then they are unable to stream for 3 months.

[Online Game] Gaming community pulls together to tackle breast cancer

Anyone who shops at a major retail chain knows that, at this time of year, corporations often embark on charity drives. But online games portal Big Fish’s charity drive this year didn’t ask its customers for a cent.
The company donated a fixed amount of $225,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, while getting its player base involved at a more communal level. Players of Big Fish’s casual games were simply invited to celebrate the charity drive by competing against one another.

[Switch] Pokémon Go is getting an evolution-themed event, featuring Shiny Burmy

Pokémon Go will have its first Evolution Event starting on Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. ET.
The event will feature Pokémon like Onix, Eevee, Roselia, and Burmy spawning more frequently in the wild and in raids. Pokémon with “unique evolutions” like Lickitung, Scyther, Togetic, and Ralts will also join raids. Tyrogue, Feebas, Burmy, and Happiny will also hatch out of two kilometer eggs more often.
