Tencent has dropped the widely popular mobile version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in China after it failed to secure the license from the government to collect revenues from the game.
The company has introduced a similar title, Elite Force for Peace, to Chinese players. Elite Force for Peace has already been approved for monetization by the government.
PUBG mobile launched in March last year and is now one of the world's most popular games, with as many players as Fortnite. The game has approximately 70 million players in China and has generated around $1.18 billion.
